Art

I work in many different mediums. As an illustrator, it would probably benefit me to have one distinct style. I’ve tried. It’s just not how my brain works.

I simply visualize how I want an image to look and try to create that. Sometimes they are watercolors. Sometimes they are collage. Sometimes they are ink drawings. They are all authentic to me. Here’s a small sampling of my work.

WATERCOLORS

Greys in the Waves. Watercolor.
January Hare. Watercolor.
Pair of Kois. Watercolor.

ILLUSTRATIONS FROM UNPUBLISHED WORK

Sometimes I have an idea for something that just doesn’t take off. It can be a bummer, especially if I really like the art. Here are a few pieces that I enjoyed.

Bad Balloon. Watercolor and ink.
Clown and Boy. Digital printmaking,
Bonzo. Collage.

INKTOBER

Many of my drawings come from the 31-day online drawing challenge, Inktober. Every day in October there is a one-word prompt. I’ve been doing this challenge since 2017 and through it I produce some of my favorite work. Here are a few drawings.

Shallow. Digital ink and watercolor. Procreate.

Scout. Digital Ink and watercolor. Procreate.
Uh-oh. Digital ink.

This final image sparked the inspiration for my graphic novel, The Ghost in Cabin 13. The prompt, Uh-oh, made me think of the times when I attended sleep-overs in my youth and we would play ghostly games and try to conjure spirits. In the case of this illustration, it worked. Uh-oh.
