Over the last fifteen years, I have had the pleasure of visiting many schools across the country. I love engaging with students, sharing my process, and teaching a few tricks of the trade.
I have a variety of presentations and I can be flexible with your school and its individual needs. Sometimes I do large auditorium presentations, and other times I work in a classroom with a single group. Often, a full day school visit is a combination of both. I’ve taught art to Kindergartners, writing to third graders, and illustration to college age learners. I’ve taught programs on creating picture books to adults, and done week-long residency programs.

There is no such thing as a typical day, but here is an example of a possible full day author-visit:
8:00 – 8:45 Large group presentation in the auditorium (half the school)
9:00 – 9:40 Art Project with Classroom 1
9:40 – 10:20 Art Project with Classroom 2
10:20 – 11:00 Art Project with Classroom 3
11 – 11:30 Lunch with future writers in library
11:30-11:45 Julie break
11:45 – 12:30 Writing Lesson with Classroom 4
12:30 – 1:15 Writing Lesson with Classroom 5
1:15 – 1:30 Julie Break
1:30 – 2:30 Large Group Presentation (Other half of the school)

30-Minute cyber-sessions have been a popular choice since Covid. Cyber-visits sessions are broken up into three 10-minute sections.
Section 1: I talk about creating a picture book or a graphic novel.
Section 2: Drawing demo. *
Section 3: Student Q& A
Cyber-sessions are $50 per 30-minute session.
Send an email to me at julie_c@rocketmail.com if you’d like to schedule a Cyber-session.
*A drawing lesson can be swapped for a drawing demo, in which case the lesson usually goes 15-20 minutes so I only have time for 1-2 questions.

Half day presentation are available to schools within the West Hartford, CT area.
Presentations and Prices vary. Email julie_c@rocketmail.com to inquire about current programs.
