I really love visiting schools. So much of my job is spent alone making art (which I also love) that it’s refreshing to get out and talk with the young readers.
I have a variety or presentations and workshops that I offer. My current workshops focus more on my graphic novels, but I also have some based on my picture books (for the younger students.)
Every school is different, and so is every school visit. But here is an example of a somewhat typical full-day author visit.
- Example of a Full-Day Author Visit Schedule:
- 8:30 Arrive at School
- 9:00 – 9:45 Graphic Novel Presentation with grades 3-6
- 10:00 – 10:30 Workshop with Classroom A
- 10:40 – 11:10 Workshop with Classroom B
- 11:10 – 11:25 Author break
- 11:30 – 12:15 Lunch with Aspiring Authors
- 12:30 – 1:15 Picture Book Presentation with Grades K-2
- 1:15 – 1:45 Sign pre-ordered books
- 1:45 – 2:00 Author break
- 2:00 – 2:30 Workshop Classroom C
- 2:40 – 3:10 Workshop Classroom D
- 3:15 Leave
